Atlanta is rated in the top 10 (among 100 cities) for the number of STEM jobs, according to a new nationwide study conducted by the Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public research and policy organization based in Washington, DC. STEM, a workforce-education buzzword, is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math. Atlanta STEM jobs in 2011 totaled 423,220, or almost 20% of all area jobs.
